    • Facilitated meetings in 2013 to plan for team-taught COM 500 Introduction to Graduate Studies in Communication for Spring 2014 and completely reorganized the class around topics instead of individual faculty.*

In the past year, I have advised 36 students.  Most, though not all, have been graduate students.  In my capacity as Graduate Program Director in Communication, I maintain and update the website, an important repository for information related to the graduate program.  I have pioneered the use of blogs, wikis, and other social media to keep students updated about upcoming dates and items of interest.*

    • Submitted proposal for book-length manuscript for Hollywood, Nazism, and Globalization: Popular Culture and the Birth of the Holocaust Film, 1933-1945 to Northwestern U P as part of its new series, Cultural Expressions of World War II: Interwar Preludes, Responses, Memory.
    • Submitted 20 page essay on film for Antisemitism in North America: Theory, Research and Methodology for Jewish Identity Series (Brill).
    • Submitted 21 page essay for Oxford Handbook of the History of American Immigration and Ethnicity on Immigration, Race, and Ethnicity in Film (Oxford). 

 

4.  Grant Acquisition and Current Grant Proposals

    • Received $5000 grant from the Harry W. Salon Foundation Grant to bring the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum traveling exhibition "Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals" to Fort Wayne, the first time this exhibition will come to Indiana.  This project is in collaboration with the IPFW Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Artlink, Congregation Achduth Vesholom, and the Fort Wayne Jewish Federation.
